Chips we saved on X, photos and blueprints of the boards, the cited apps mapped onto VE projects, and a priced wishlist.
As of Sat 29 Aug 2026, ESTSources: M5Stack, Waveshare, PiShop.us, Adafruit, Amazon, AliExpress, X bookmarks (1,333), here.now site searchClassification: shareable with partners · no credentials
1. Naming — there is no chip called ESP5
Espressif’s line is ESP32, then letter-and-number variants (S3, C3, C5, C6, P4, H2). A search for “ESP5 microcontroller” on X returned nothing. Two real things get abbreviated that way in conversation:
M5Stack Tab5 — a 5-inch tablet-shaped IoT terminal. Dual chip: ESP32-P4 (application) + ESP32-C6 (Wi-Fi 6 radio). This is the product people mean when they say “ESP5” right now.
ESP32-C5 — a different silicon SKU with dual-band Wi-Fi 6. Popular this week as the LILYGO T-Display C5 pocket scanner. Not a tablet.
For partners: if the ask is “get an ESP5,” order a Tab5. If the ask is “cheap board we can flash this weekend,” order an ESP32-S3 with a screen — official Tab5 is sold out.
2. Chips in our X bookmarks

3. Photos and blueprints

Stills from X are the posters’ own media, used here as citations. Shop photos are manufacturer product shots for partner identification — not for resale listings.
Blueprint of the Waveshare radio console. Only the board + battery are on the cart; the UI is firmware.Blueprint of Tab5. Official kit is sold out; this is the object people are casing and flashing Codex onto. One chip family, six VE surfaces. Event = EventBuoy. Chip = ChipMonk. here = here.now kiosks.
4. Cited apps → VE use cases
Every row is something already cited in bookmarks, here.now pages, or this week’s X. The right column is where VE can copy the pattern, not a promise we will ship it.

Live radio / now-playing e-paper + hold-to-talk into chat
Camera kiosk only if we want it. Do not copy the USB PIN-brute clips from the same firehose.

LiteWing kit
Skip unless we want aerial EventBuoy. Not in the $56 cart.
Highest-leverage trio for VE: (1) Waveshare e-paper as a MINY/Dank now-playing desk, (2) $15 S3 voice box as a ChipMonk/VE Lab agent, (3) Tab5 or PaperMono as the EventBuoy/NFC object when stock exists. Pi Zero 2 W is the Linux twin of (2), already specced.
5. Wishlist — price and where to buy
Ranked by “can we hold it this week” then “does a bookmark or an existing here.now shopping list already justify it.” Prices are list, USD, before tax and freight. EST 29 Aug 2026.
Parts bin, not a product. Skip if we already buy S3 + C3.
Do not put on this cart: NVIDIA GPUs, Apple Silicon, Snapdragon phones. Those bookmarks are local-LLM compute, not this MCU/SBC kit. SparkFun MPU-6050 list (~$30) is a 10× markup on the same sensor.
Suggested first cart (ships): Pico W $6 + Waveshare S3 ~$30 + LiPo ~$10 + C3 mini ~$6 + MPU6050 ~$4 ≈ $56. Add Pi Zero 2 W $19 if we want the speaker path. Tab5 is extra and reseller-only until M5Stack restocks.
6. Which board for which job
The 5-inch tablet is the one people want. The S3 boards are the ones you can buy today.

Flash ElatoAI if we want a voice companion this month
Keyboard + 1.14″ screen + battery. Mesh kit adds LoRa (Cap LoRa-1262) for Meshtastic. We already have an onboard/flash skill for Cardputer and Core-family ESP32. Mesh kit was listed backorder at M5Stack; Adv units on AliExpress.
ESP32-C5, Wi-Fi 6, 16 MB flash, 8 MB PSRAM, 1.9″ ST7789. This week’s pocket Wi-Fi/BLE scanner project. Buy this only if the job is RF tooling, not a tablet demo.
Tab5 is the object. People are attaching the keyboard, NP-F batteries, and Codex-compatible firmware. Japanese makers say M5Stack is selling out across the line, not just Tab5.
ESP32-C5 is a side plot — LILYGO T-Display C5 as a Wi-Fi/BLE analyser (24 Aug).
Adafruit (25 Aug): Linux BSP posted for ESP32-S31. Worth a watch if we ever want a real userspace on-device, not a toy MCU.
Schematik ESP32 (27 Aug): in the home timeline, not saved. Treat as “their board is coming,” not as a buy link yet.
Noise: @Alacritic_Super is posting ESP32 clips continuously (gesture-via-ultrasound, AMOLED boards, USB HID PIN brute-force). Useful as a firehose, not as a shopping list.
12. If we buy this week
Pico W ($6, PiShop.us) — cheapest bookmarked chip, ships from an official reseller.
Waveshare ESP32-S3 1.54″ e-Paper + LiPo (~$40) — the radio-console BOM we already have notes for.
ESP32-C3 mini + GY-521 MPU6050 (~$10) — COMET air mouse parts.
Tab5 via AliExpress or Amazon ($60 list) only if the partner demo needs a tablet. Official store is empty. Confirm qty in cart.
Skip PaperMono until M5Stack restocks. Official $65 / $55 are both sold out.
Do not buy a $79 “AI companion.” Same BOM is ~$15 plus ElatoAI or XiaoZhi.
Ships-this-week cart: Pico W + Waveshare S3 + LiPo + C3 + MPU6050 ≈ $56. Add Pi Zero 2 W ($19, Adafruit) if we want the speaker path. Tab5 is extra and reseller-only.
13. Related here.now pages
Owner search across published Sites, 29 Aug 2026 EST. Hardware-relevant pages first; NVIDIA/API docs are listed so we do not confuse them with MCU shopping.
Also matched “Raspberry Pi” in Hermes desktop geojson (placid-rafter-75yn, arctic-sphinx-88bv) and studio homepages (steady-cobble-c9pe, saffron-aurora-dvbm) — those are mentions, not shopping lists.
14. House-agent notes
Internal search, 28–29 Aug 2026 EST. Nothing here is a prior purchase order.
House-agent transcripts (Shakti, Zeus, VE-Monet): no buy conversation. Zeus’s Aug 3–4 bookmark digest already contained the Waveshare radio build, ElatoAI, and LiteWing.
X bookmarks: ESP32-S3 is the dense cluster (6). Tab5 was on the home timeline, not saved. PaperMono was saved.
15. Gaps
AliExpress and Amazon Tab5 listings were not quantity-checked in a cart. Treat as “listed,” not “in the warehouse.”
PaperMono AliExpress landing cost / US stock not verified beyond the launch shortlink.
LILYGO T-Display C5 exact cart URL not pinned (write-up is the X thread).
SX1262 module SKU not pinned to one seller — region (915 vs 868) still a choice.
No freight, duties, or Canadian/US delivery times.
Schematik’s own ESP32 board is vapour until they sell it.
